The Story Behind Eventive YQR: The Heart Behind the Experiences We Create

I’m Emily — the person behind every email, social media post, photo, and design you see from Eventive YQR. This is my husband, Tanner — the creative hands behind the custom-built pieces, installations, and unique details that bring our events to life.

Together, we are the heart and soul behind this Regina-based event planning, rental, and decor company, and this is the story of how (and why) Eventive YQR came to be.

Seven years ago, I planned our wedding. We were young, in love, and working with a tight budget while trying to figure out how to create a celebration for over 100 people. I had no idea what I was doing when it came to timelines, styling, budgeting, or all the tiny details that go into bringing an event together.

Did everything come together? Absolutely. Do I look back and wish I would have done some things differently? Also absolutely. Have I asked Tanner for a wedding do-over? More times than I’d like to admit.

Later that year, I became more involved in the event side of the non-profit organization I was working with. I discovered a love for coordinating, organizing, budgeting, and creating experiences for people in my community. At the time, I saw it as something I enjoyed — a passion project and a way to give back — but never imagined it would become a career.

Fast forward five years, and we were planning our baby shower. This time around, I had a little more experience, a better understanding of what makes an event flow, and a vision for creating something memorable. Our “over the moon” theme came together, and later that year we welcomed our first son into the world.

Becoming a mom changed everything.

The love, fear, excitement, and overwhelming emotions that come with bringing a little human into the world are impossible to explain until you experience them. I loved every moment of getting to know our son, but when it came time to return to work, I found myself feeling a mix of emotions. I loved my work family, but I knew I wasn’t on the path I truly wanted for myself long-term.

I had always been creative. Our house is filled with evidence of that — from makeup and interior design to jewelry making, stained glass, knitting, wreath making, and more hobbies than we probably have room for. (The craft room collection may have gotten a little out of hand.)

I wanted to build something that combined my creativity, my love for bringing people together, and my desire to be more present for my family.

I remember sitting with Tanner, overwhelmed and unsure of what direction to take, and he already had the answer in his mind: event planning.

So we started dreaming.

During the rest of my maternity leave, we built products, planned our son’s first birthday, developed our brand, and started figuring out what Eventive YQR could become. We spent countless hours talking about our logo, our colours, the feeling we wanted people to have when they interacted with our business, and how we could build something unique in the Regina event community.

Launching a business was exciting — and honestly, a little terrifying.

I knew how to create a great event, but running a business came with a whole new learning curve. Marketing, social media, contracts, pricing, and everything behind the scenes were all things I had to learn along the way.

But we figured it out.

We built relationships with incredible clients, connected with amazing local businesses, and worked hard through our first year to create memorable events, custom pieces, and experiences that people could truly enjoy.

And now, here we are.

Over halfway through our second year of Eventive YQR, we are continuing to grow, take on exciting projects, and build the business we dreamed about creating.

Just 2.5 months ago, our family grew again when we welcomed our second son. This season of life has reminded us even more why creating a business centered around connection, experiences, and meaningful moments matters so much to us. We know how quickly these milestones pass, and we love being able to help others celebrate the moments that matter most.

Whether it’s a wedding, celebration, corporate event, community gathering, or a custom experience, our goal is always the same: to create events that feel personal, memorable, and uniquely yours.
